Jamal Abdullahi

A recipient of the Mark Hughes Foundation Scholarship, Graphic Design graduate student Jamal Abdullahi pushes traditional design norms and aims to make the world a better place through intuitive communication.

ArtCenter has welcomed me since I started school, and I’ve felt more capable due to the result of its diverse and vibrant community. As a first-generation student, I’ve had to work twice as hard because not only is my family unfamiliar with the culture and language, but they are also unfamiliar with the various paths and programs needed to secure success in secondary education. Being a scholarship recipient has given me the opportunity to focus that much harder on my studies and classes and to give back to my communities. Through the skills I learn at ArtCenter, I get closer to reaching my goals of making the world a better place through intuitive design.
