The Center for the Student Experience (CSE) serves the College’s student affairs functions under the leadership of the Vice President of Student Affairs/Dean of Students. The CSE enhances ArtCenter education through student engagement offerings, programs, and services that promote student success, well-being, and personal growth. The CSE team manages the implementation of the Student Handbook, campus life, international student services, academic and creative integrity, mental health counseling and services, disability accommodations, and conduct matters. The team also supports students in areas such as advocacy, health and wellness, student health insurance, student clubs, and off-campus housing assistance. It also provides international student advising, administers the Student Code of Conduct, and collaborates with the ArtCenter Student Government (ACSG) to enrich campus life. Additionally, the CSE offers outreach to students needing extra support.
The Campus Life team within the CSE organizes a full calendar of educational, cultural, and social events to enrich student life at ArtCenter. These free activities are open to all students and often held in collaboration with the ArtCenter Student Government (ACSG) and various student clubs and organizations. Additionally, the CSE Campus Life team coordinates leadership opportunities on campus and in the local community, further enhancing the student experience.
The CSE International Student Services team offers International Student Advisement to students from outside the U.S., guiding them from orientation, graduation and beyond. Our International Student Advisors help with maintaining legal status, acclimating to U.S. culture, settling into the local area, managing academic expectations, exploring relevant work opportunities, and understanding the role of artists and designers in a global context. Additionally, the CSE provides programs and activities that enhance the international student learning experience and promote diversity.
The CSE provides students with Mental Health Services and Campus Counseling. Each student enrolled in a degree program can schedule up to five appointments per semester with a licensed mental health counselor, offering a flexible approach to accommodate their needs. All sessions are voluntary and take place privately with a staff counselor. Students may request appointments in person or remotely. ArtCenter’s counselors can also refer students to off-campus clinicians and healthcare providers if that arrangement is better suited to assist the student.
The CSE also ensures that students follow ArtCenter policies and helps mediate conflicts with peers to allow students to feel comfortable and supported on campus. The CSE student conduct process focuses on educating students and works to support student success.
