Described by other students as motivated, energetic and kind, Spring 2024 Student Leadership Award winner and Entertainment Design student Nini Chen inspired her peers by promoting a culture of team building and inclusivity.
“I have been immersed in a diverse community that thrives on creativity, innovation and collaboration,” says Chen in her personal statement for the award.
As an ArtCenter Student Government director of communications, Orientation Leader, Teaching Assistant, mentor, a recipient of a SLED Grant and the Allen, Matkins, Leck, Gamble, Mallory & Natsis Endowed Scholarship, Chen seized opportunities and bridged together students from various artistic backgrounds, age groups and ethnicities.
Her identity as a first-generation immigrant helped boost in her a sense of curiosity and openness, Chen says.
A concept artist passionate about creating visually captivating narratives, Chen gained an appreciation for different perspectives while collaborating with a wide range of students on the Royal Caribbean International Sponsored Project.
As a student leader, she empowered other students to boldly express themselves, and pursue their dreams.
