The Game Developers Conference (GDC) is an annual conference for video game developers. The event includes an expo, networking events, and awards shows like the Game Developers Choice Awards and Independent Games Festival, and a variety of tutorials, lectures, and roundtables by industry professionals on game-related topics covering programming, design, audio, production, business and management, and visual arts.

This year, ArtCenter's Entertainment Design student project Chú Mó will be on display at the conference. It was selected as one of 20 games being unveiled. Be sure to vote for your favorite exhibit at GDC 2024 to crown one of the outstanding alt.ctrl exhibitors with the Audience Award. Voting will take place at the exhibit.

Chú Mó is a gaming experience likened to playing a video game in real life. By combining aspects from both escape rooms and traditional game development, the team invites players to take on the role of up-and-coming exorcists in this game that explores themes of East Asian exorcism in a school setting.

Working as a team, students(players) must be quick to identify and counter curse after curse, using the powers of relics, drums, and calligraphy. The core mechanics of this game include observation and communication as they must work together to fight curses and ultimately seal the demon away.
