Expanded campus hours and access for Fall term 2021

As we approach mid-terms and enter the last half of the term, ArtCenter is moving toward extending campus access to pre-pandemic operating conditions to better accommodate the needs of our students while continuing to provide access to campus in a way that supports the safety and health of the ArtCenter community.

Please note the following modifications to campus hours and access for the remainder of the Fall 2021 term.

  • The Educational Media Equipment Center (EMEC ) at Hillside Campus (Room 162) is operating Monday–Friday 8 a.m.–8 p.m. Beginning Week 9, EMEC operating hours at  South Campus (950 building, Room 207) will be Monday–Friday 8 a.m.–5 p.m. This is only two hours per day shy of the pre-pandemic EMEC schedule. Access will return to pre-pandemic level when staffing has normalized. Advance equipment reservations continues to be the most effective way to access equipment.
  • Computer Labs are now open until 11 p.m. Efforts are being made to extend computer lab hours until 1 a.m. (as in pre-pandemic times) with the aid of student workers. We are also identifying which labs, if any, can remain open 24/7. Please find updated information on the Labs’ page on Inside ArtCenter.
  • The Hillside Model Shop is open Mondays 8 a.m.–10 p.m. and Tuesday–Friday 8 a.m. – 4 p.m. The South Campus Model shop is open Mondays 8 a.m.–6 p.m., Tuesday–Friday 8 a.m.–10 p.m., and Saturdays 8 a.m.–4 p.m. Expanded hours in the composite room and paint booths will be made available by the end of Fall term, following the completion of nighttime construction in those areas.
  • ArtCenter shuttle service has returned to the pre-pandemic schedule running Monday–Friday 7 a.m.–11:30 p.m. and Saturdays 7:15 a.m.–8:45 p.m.
  • The Student Store continues to provide both in-person and online services. In-person store hours for Fall term will remain 11 a.m.–3 p.m. for both store locations. Pre-pandemic hours of operations are planned to resume for Spring term.
  • The Hillside Prop Room is open for student checkout Monday–Friday 8 a.m.–8 p.m. and Saturdays 10 a.m.–4 p.m. The South Campus Prop Room services classroom needs (no student services) Monday–Friday 7 a.m.–8 p.m.
  • Buildings on both campuses will be open 24/7 however access to certain spaces may be periodically restricted due to the cleaning schedule, construction activity or other safety reasons.

Barring any health, regulatory or legal issues we intend to maintain this level of access going into Spring term. Please note, however, that every individual on campus bears responsibility for the health, safety and wellbeing of our community. Any person disregarding ArtCenter policies—including but not limited to campus security, COVID-19 or no smoking/vaping policies—or disregarding procedures related to campus access, required face coverings, or smoking or vaping on campus will lose access to campus.
