Exhibition Showcases Graduate Studies Student Work in a New Dedicated South Campus Gallery
ArtCenter College of Design presents its first exhibition dedicated exclusively to the work of graduate studies students—Reveal: Uncovering Layers of Creativity. On view from February 20 to July 8, the exhibition occupies ArtCenter’s new Graduate Studies Gallery housed within the new Mullin Transportation Design Center located on the college’s South Campus. This new space complements the renowned undergraduate Student Gallery at the college’s Hillside campus, fulfilling ArtCenter’s desire to showcase student work at all levels.
The first of two planned installments, Reveal features the work of nine graduate students from a cross section of disciplines, including Industrial Design, Graphic Design, Spatial Experience Design, Transportation Systems and Design, Furniture, Lighting and Fixtures Design, and Film. All of their work explores the concept of “unveiling”—whether through hidden meanings, processes or material experimentation.
Through a range of media, including mixed media installations, film, sketches, drafts, prototypes, and augmented reality elements, the exhibition challenges visitors to look beyond the surface, to discover underlying narratives and techniques that inform the student’s creations.
