PASADENA, CA (March 12, 2025) - The LIVE ON EARTH! Ecofeminism and Art: A Planetary Symposium will take place at ArtCenter College of Design in Pasadena, California, on March 21, 2025, as part of a 24-hour, three-city global event exploring the intersection of feminism, art and environmental justice.
Hosted by The Brick and ArtCenter College of Design, the Los Angeles program brings together artists, scholars and activists for engaging panel discussions, an interactive performance, a communal lunch and video screenings—all reflecting on ecofeminist histories and exploring creative strategies for a more just and sustainable future.
Representing the Americas and serving as the final eight-hour segment of the three-city event, the symposium at ArtCenter in Pasadena will be co-facilitated by Jane McFadden, art historian and ArtCenter Dean of Interdisciplinary Studies, and Catherine Taft, ArtCenter faculty member, alumna and Deputy Director of The Brick.
Following a virtual handover from The Hague symposium, keynote speaker Silvia Federici—introduced by artist Ohan Breiding and curator Shoghig Halajian—will address attendees via Zoom. Immediately afterward, on the rooftop of ArtCenter’s South Campus (950 building), a special gathering led by Mexico City-based research collective colectivo amasijo, and presented by Active Cultures, will feature a circular procession and communal meal. This interactive experiences connects participants with the Milpa traditional agricultural cycles and ecological knowledge through the performative ritual and meal.
