ArtCenter does not unlawfully discriminate against any student or exclude any student from its education program or activity, including any class or extracurricular activity, on the basis of that student’s pregnancy, childbirth, false pregnancy, termination of pregnancy, or recovery from such conditions.
Dedicated, private lactation rooms are at Hillside, 870, 1111 and 950 buildings. Each has a private locking space, sink, small counter/table, lounge-type chair, carpet, mirror, phone, and a refrigerator for storing breast milk. Individuals needing to make use of these spaces need to fill out the Key Request Form. Lactation rooms can be accessed by Students, Staff or Faculty.
ArtCenter provides a reasonable amount of break time to accommodate employees who wish to express breast milk at work. ArtCenter will make every reasonable effort to provide the employee with the use of a room or other private location for this purpose that is within close proximity to the employee’s work area for the employee to express milk in private. More information about lactation rooms is available in the Employee Handbook or by speaking with Employee Experience and Engagement.
ArtCenter is committed to providing relevant resources and accommodations to students affected by pregnancy, childbirth or related conditions. This commitment includes granting appropriate leave for the period of time deemed medically necessary by the student’s physician. However, the College will not require students to withdraw, take a leave of absence, or limit their participation in education programs and activities as a result of pregnancy or pregnancy-related conditions. The Center for the Student Experience (CSE) and the Title IX Office work collaboratively to ensure equal access for students under Title IX. Pregnant and parenting students looking to access available supportive measures and accommodations may contact Director of Title IX Compliance and Programs Brittany Raygoza. Students can check the Student Pregnant and Parenting Policy FAQs for any initial questions. Or refer to the Rights of Pregnant and Parenting Students policy.
