Biography

Laura Owens (b. 1970 Euclid, Ohio) is an artist who lives and works in Los Angeles. Owens’s work has been presented in solo exhibitions at The Museum of Contemporary Art, Los Angeles (2018); The Dallas Museum of Art (2017); The Whitney Museum of American Art, New York (2017); The Wattis Institute, San Francisco (2016); Secession, Vienna (2015); Kunstmuseum Bonn (2011); Kunsthalle Zurich (2006) Museum of Contemporary Art, Los Angeles (2003); and Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum, Boston (2001), among other venues. Owens is represented by Gavin Brown's Enterprise, New York, Rome; Sadie Coles HQ, London; and Galerie Gisela Capitain, Cologne. She co-founded 356 Mission, a contemporary art exhibition space in downtown Los Angeles, which she ran with Gavin Brown and Wendy Yao until its closing in 2018. She joined ArtCenter College of Design in Pasadena as Visiting Faculty in 2016.
