Biography

Professor Krystina Castella has practiced as a designer and has taught at ArtCenter College of Design across disciplines for almost three decades. Her research and teaching centers around designing for play, the intersection between design and ethical business, designing for social innovation, and sustainable materials and manufacturing innovation.  

She has designed products and environments for Walt Disney Imagineering, FOX Network, RTKL, The Brooklyn Children’s Museum and Generra Sportwear. As a design entrepreneur, she created an industrial design licensing and manufacturing company that has internationally distributed dozen of products, including children’s furniture, toys, clothing, stationery, housewares and soft goods. She also created a traveling museum exhibit company. She is founder of the Design Entrepreneur Network and has been interviewed many times on National Public Radio. She is author of the college textbook Designing For Kids: Creating for playing learning and growing, and 11 other books including children’s and cookbooks. The Museum of Modern Art, Fortune Magazine and Oprah Winfrey have all praised her creative achievements.
