Q

Does ArtCenter have a relationship with Caltech?

A

To enhance the learning opportunities we offer students, ArtCenter provides unique cross-enrollment programs with two neighboring instutions: California Institute of Technology (Caltech) and Occidental College.

ArtCenter has an approved Humanities and Sciences exchange program with Caltech, world-renowned for research and education in the sciences and engineering.

During the Fall and Spring terms, full-time ArtCenter students can enroll in a non-studio liberal arts and sciences course at Caltech for no additional tuition charges, as long as the course meets specific Humanities and Science requirements in their major. Certain restrictions apply, and Caltech may require additional fees beyond tuition. For more information about the Humanities and Sciences exchange program, contact ArtCenter’s Registrar.

In return, full-time students at Caltech are able to take art and design classes at ArtCenter through the College’s ArtCenter Extension program. Caltech students interested in enrolling should contact the Public Programs office.

Beyond this formal exchange program, ArtCenter often offers joint classes co-taught by ArtCenter and Caltech faculty, with students from both colleges exploring the intersection of art, design and science. Additionally, the two schools occasionally co-host events, workshops and lectures, and also partnered to establish The Design Accelerator, an incubator for start-ups in the greater Pasadena region.
