Gala Narezo specializes in creating platforms for social issues. Her focus is community engagement and collaborative problem solving. Viewing mindfulness as an essential component of social impact design, New York-based Narezo established Mindful+ workshops to engage all ages in mindful change-making. As a liaison with the United Nations for Designmatters, she helped develop a series of classes that included a campaign for the Millennium Development Goals, a contemporized view of the Human Rights Campaign. She co-founded Indocumentales/Undocumentaries, the US/Mexico Interdependent Film Series exploring immigration and related issues; and What Moves You? an organization that produced educational public art and media as a catalyst for the discussion of human rights, gender equality and other international issues, with installations at the United Nations and academic and cultural institutions. Locales, her book of photographs documenting the effects of gentrification on a Mexico City neighborhood, was published by Artes de México.
