Accolades for Esther Pearl Watson’s illustrations include a silver medal from the Society of Illustrators and a design award from “Communication Arts.” Her clients include “The New York Times,” “Lucky Peach, Inc.,” “Bust,” “McSweeney’s,” “Los Angeles Times” and lynda.com. Watson has illustrated a number of picture books, young-adult books and graphic novels, from “Talking to Angels” in 1996 to the third volume of her “Unlovable” comic for Fantagraphics in 2014, which was featured in “The Best American Comics 2015.” Her solo and two-person exhibitions have been held in Canada, Italy, Norway and Sweden in addition to the United States. President of Icon9, the Illustration Conference, Watson has taught at ArtCenter College of Design since 2003 and holds lectures and workshops across the globe.
