Richard is Associate Chair of the Transportation Systems and Design master of science program.
He is also Head of Design at Xtelligent.io, a mobility venture focused on social and environmental justice.
Before becoming an ArtCenter Transportation Design student in 1996, he worked in furniture design and was also recognized at U.T. Arlington for extraordinary contributions to the design of several award winning formula SAE racing cars. A unique thread of his career has been to grow user research, strategy and UX design teams within larger organizations. In his 30 year career, he has built and lead teams to yield 200+ patents, earning accolades in interaction and user experience design. Notably, he has co-created vision setting and production designs for BMW Cars, Motorcycles and Formula1, MINI, Rolls Royce, Ford, Lincoln, Scania Trucks, Bay Area Rapid Transit(BART), LA Metro, IdeaLab(AiPod) and Waymo.
Since joining ArtCenter faculty, Richard committed to an ambitious goal: developing transportation designers to counter the root causes and impacts of climate change and designing rich mobility experiences.
