Hurricane Dorian devastated the northern Bahama islands for nearly forty hours in September 2019. According to the National Hurricane Center, the storm’s landfall on September 1 tied with one in 1935 as the strongest Atlantic hurricane landfall on record. The image shows widespread browning of Grand Bahama (left) and Abaco islands from damaged vegetation. The brightening of the reefs and shoals near the islands is due to sediment that the storm stirred up. September 7, 2019.
