An artist and educator based in Los Angeles, Raymie Iadevaia received a BFA in Painting/Drawing from the California College of Arts and Crafts in San Francisco in 2007 and an MFA from ArtCenter in 2013. Iadevaia’s practice is founded on an enmeshed interplay between painterly and sculptural strategies. His interests lie in the nuanced uses of color as integral to the development of a visual field focused on a dynamic relay between sensations of frenetic movement within the body and the tactile, spatial nature of perception. Researching historical foundations of colors and their theoretical implications, Iadevaia explores how color repels, congeals, veils, transmits, transmutes and conjures meaning across cultural and aesthetic contexts. Iadevaia’s work has been exhibited in Los Angeles, New York, Switzerland, Germany and Japan. Iadevaia teaches in the School of Visual and Performing Arts at Chaffey College and online courses at Rocky Mountain College of Art + Design.
