MFA 02 Graduate Art

A Graduate Art faculty member since 2008, artist Tom Allen is best known for his intricate and richly chromatic paintings that draw from 19th-century Romanticism as much as they do from contemporary experience. Allen received his BFA from the University of Southern California in 1998 and his MFA from ArtCenter in 2001. He has been featured in solo and group exhibitions internationally (Berlin, Cologne, Stockholm, New York, Los Angeles) and his paintings are held in private collections, as well as in the permanent collections of the Museum of Contemporary Art, Los Angeles and the Sweeney Gallery, University of California, Riverside. In 2012, he organized “Occult Aesthesis,” a panel discussion at ArtCenter exploring the intersection of contemporary art and esotericism. In 2016 he was interviewed on Yale University Radio, and also in the bilingual French journal "Octopusnotes." He is the art director for "CLAVIS–Journal of Occult Arts, Letters and Experience."
