BS 65 Transportation Design

Geza Loczi’s passion for designing cars was nurtured at ArtCenter where he received a full scholarship from Ford Motor Company. After graduating with honors, Loczi spent 15 years as assistant chief designer at General Motors and then became design manager of Volkswagen North America for three years. In 1983 he joined Volvo, eventually becoming director of design in the United States and chairman of design worldwide. Loczi created and oversaw designs of numerous models including the 1992 ECC (Environmental Concept Car) which used an early version of the design language on later Volvo models. He was instrumental in developing Alias and Bunkspeed design software embraced by the industry. The recipient of the 2010 Michelin Lifetime Achievement Award, Loczi was a four-time Michelin Challenge Design jury member. He also taught transportation design at ArtCenter, and in 2011 retired from Volvo and founded the architectural design firm GezaLocziDesign.
