Mexico City-born Javier Verdura graduated from ArtCenter with a degree in Product Design in 1991. Verdura’s first position as a product designer was at the award-winning Group Four Design in New England. He later joined INNO Design in Atlanta as design manager, and while there became a part-time industrial design professor at Georgia Institute of Technology's School of Design. In 1998 he joined then start-up Product Ventures, where he remained for 15 years as vice president of design and development. Verdura is currently director of product design at Tesla, working under chief designer and ArtCenter alumnus Franz von Holzhausen. Over his 25-year career, Verdura has designed everything from surgical equipment to consumer products and packaging. He has won some of the industry's most prestigious awards, including Red Dot, IDEA and Good Design, and his name appears in more than 130 patents in the U.S. and abroad.
