Rafael López is a children’s book illustrator, artist and muralist. He received the Pura Belpré Award given by the American Library Association to honor work that best portrays and affirms the Latino cultural experience in children's books. López was selected by the Library of Congress to create the National Book Festival poster celebrating reading and literacy, and he has created seven stamps for the U.S. Postal Service. As a muralist, López envisioned and led the Urban Art Trail project that has transformed blighted areas and serves as a model of urban renewal which has been implemented in cities around the nation. López created two official campaign posters for Artists for Obama to win the pivotal Latino vote in 2008 and 2012. His clients include Amnesty International, Apple, "Chicago Tribune," IBM, Intel, Latin Grammys, "Los Angeles Times," U.S. Forest Service, "The Washington Post" and the World Wildlife Fund.
