Shannon Freshwater is an illustrator, educator and fine artist who lives in Los Angeles. An illustration instructor at ArtCenter since 2015, she also teaches at the California State University at Northridge and at a nonprofit art program for elementary and middle school children. Freshwater has illustrated for such notable clients as "The New York Times," "Scientific American," "Playboy," "Le Monde," "Nautilus" and "The Washington Post," and she has done book covers for Little, Brown; Knopf; and Farrar, Straus and Giroux. Her book covers for John Fowles’ "The Collector" and "Daniel Martin" have received high praise, including selection as one of AIGA’s “50 Books/50 Covers of 2011” and permanent storage in AIGA’s design archives. Awarded a Bronze medal by 3x3’s illustration annual, Freshwater has also been included in illustration and design annuals from "Communication Arts," the Society of Illustrators, "American Illustration," Print’s Regional Design Annual and Taschen’s "Illustration Now!"
