Since graduating from ArtCenter with distinction in Illustration, London-based artist Yoko Tanaka has exhibited her atmospheric, dream-like paintings in numerous galleries across Los Angeles, Chicago and Denver. In 2007, Tanaka turned her focus to illustrating children’s books — a medium that earned her several awards including recognition from the New York Society of Illustrators, 3x3 magazine and Italy’s Bologna Book Fair. Her enchanting and intricate art has appeared in “The Witch's Guide to Cooking with Children” by Keith McGowan, “The Magician's Elephant” by Kate DiCamillo, “One Moon,” “Two Cats” by Laura Goodwin, “Theodosia and the Serpents of Chaos” by R. L. LaFevers, and “Sparrow Girl” by Sara Pennypacker. More rerent projects include writing and painting her first picture book, as well as illustrating apps for iPad.
