Owen Smith’s award-winning illustrations have appeared in numerous magazines and newspapers, including “Sports Illustrated,” “Time,” “Rolling Stone,” “The New York Times,” “Los Angeles Times” and “The New Yorker,” for which he has illustrated 18 covers. Other clients include the San Francisco Opera and the United Nations. His art helped win a Grammy for best recording package for Aimee Mann’s “The Forgotten Arm” CD. He also illustrates book jackets and children’s books. Smith’s painting and sculpture have been exhibited in New York, Milan, San Francisco and Los Angeles. In recent years, his attention has turned toward public art. Commissions include a set of mosaic murals for the New York subway station at 36th Street in Brooklyn and lobby murals and relief sculpture for the historic Laguna Honda hospital in San Francisco. Smith is the chair of the illustration program at the California College of the Arts in San Francisco.
