Based in Shanghai, Seon Young Kim is an environmental designer who creates interdisciplinary spatial experiences in the field of interior architecture, branded retail and exhibition design. During her studies at ArtCenter, she participated in international design workshops in Seoul and Shanghai and worked for Marcel Wanders in Amsterdam. After graduation, Kim moved to Berlin to focus on exhibition design at Triad, the global German design agency whose services range from strategic consulting, scenographic development, and concept design to construction planning and engineering. Kim is currently working as the lead designer for Triad’s China office. Among her projects are Shanghai’s retail store and restaurant Hunter Gatherer, whose open-kitchen design was inspired by a “real food” philosophy; a futuristic showroom for China Mobile’s Zhejiang Experience Center; and a playful, origami-inspired brand and interior for the U.S.-based Stone Fresh company’s first two stores in mainland China.
