After graduating, Mel Sant worked at DDB in New York, where he created advertising for Volkswagen, Seagram’s and Clairol. After nine years, he returned to Los Angeles and joined DDB LA; FCBLA; Keye, Donna, Pearlstein, Dailey & Associates; and Seingers Kaufman as art director and creative director. In 2003, he founded his own shop, M. Sant Ad/Design. In Los Angeles, he worked on projects for Sunkist, Mazda, JBL, Hughes Airwest, Great Western Bank, Countrywide Financial, Lone Star Beer, Toshiba, Nestlé, MGM, Sony/Columbia, Paramount Pictures, Universal Pictures, Winchell’s Donuts and Trader Joe’s. With 35-plus years in the business, Sant has won most of the awards and honors presented in advertising. His work has also been exhibited at the Museum of Modern Art and the Smithsonian and in many books and annuals. Sant is also an adjunct professor at ArtCenter, where he has taught for over 25 years.
