The first time Sonja Johnson came across 19th century photographer Eadweard Muybridge’s Zoetrope, she developed an interest in the moving image that would lead to her love of visual storytelling. Johnson attended ArtCenter’s undergraduate Film program, graduating for the first time in the 2011 Spring term. She returned a year later and in the 2014 Fall term graduated with simultaneous degrees in both Advertising and Graduate Film, becoming ArtCenter’s first and only double major triple graduate. In 2015, Johnson joined the creative advertising firm Droga5, contributing her talents to such campaigns as Honey Maid’s "This is Wholesome," Shea Moisture’s "Break the Walls," Droga5’s "Dear Droga," and "Abduct the Dust" for Roomba. In addition to exploring her voice through commercially driven campaigns tackling a wide range of social issues, Johnson continues to pursue her love of storytelling in personal projects that document her ever-evolving interest in visual language.
