Roland Young began his career with Louis Danziger and went on to flourish as an album cover designer and, later, as head of his own consultancy. After three years with Angel Records, which merged with Capitol Records, Young became creative director of design and advertising at A&M for a decade, contributing work that was published in "100 Greatest Album Covers of the 20th Century." He has created album covers for The Beatles, Glen Campbell, Merle Haggard, Carole King, Peter Frampton, Cat Stevens, Carpenters, Cheech & Chong and Burt Bacharach, among hundreds of artists. His consultancy has served a diverse and prominent clientele, including Los Angeles institutions like the Museum of Contemporary Art, the Getty Center, the Los Angeles County Museum of Art and the University of California as well as A&M, Capitol and Sony Music. Young was also a full-time instructor at ArtCenter for more than 25 years.
