Gary Lawrence has applied the experience he acquired as an urban planner and city manager in Seattle and Redmond, Wash., to the considerable challenge of orchestrating Arup’s worldwide projects. During his impressive career, he has served as advisor to the Clinton administration's Council on Sustainable Development, the UN’s Habitat II, the US Agency for International Development, the Brazilian President’s Office, the British Prime Minister’s Office, the European Academy for the Urban Environment in Berlin and the Organization for Economic and Community Development on matters of sustainable development and environmental policy. Currently, he is a senior advisor on Arup’s sustainable city project in Shanghai, China.
