Concerned with the critiquing of student work. The object of the class is to develop,
through class analysis, a sense of the theoretical implications and foundations of the
work of each of the participants. Section placement assigned by the faculty.

Masters Thesis Prep (AGA-617)

This course supports students in the development of their written theses. Students will
be required to submit their own writing and participate in group discussions. Required
for all 3rd through 6th term students except when excused by thesis committee.

Graduate Seminar (AGA-554)

This course is a visiting lecture series held in conjunction with the Graduate Fine Art
program. Guests include internationally recognized artists, critics, art historians,
architects, filmmakers, and writers from Los Angeles and around the globe. The course
is mandatory every term.

Cinema in Revolution: Debord's Films (AGA-NEW)

In this class, we will analyze the films of Guy Debord. Our goal is to understand how
Debord's films represent interventions within and inflections of the theoretical, artistic
and political projects he developed over the course of his life, beginning with his
participation in the Lettrist movement, his subsequent experience with the Situationist
International, and then his post-SI work from 1972 until his death. The analysis of these
films will touch upon a range of issues, ranging from cinematic history and theory, the
history of art and avant-garde movements, and revolutionary theory and practice.
