Learn design basics for your portfolio from some of Art Center's top Graphic Design teachers.
Now that you’ve heard what Sean, Simon, and Annie have to say, use what you've learned from them to complete a self-portrait that uses image, typography, and layout to convey your ideas in an interesting and meaningful way.
Then submit your project to Art Center and join us for a live, online session in which Art Center faculty members will critique a selection of the submitted projects. (NOTE: Everyone who submits a self-portrait is encouraged to join these sessions to learn from and contribute to the dialogue, but we will not be able to discuss all submitted projects individually.)
Work must be submitted as either a .jpeg or .pdf, not to exceed 10MB. Email your self-portrait to firstname.lastname@example.org. Include your name, address, and phone number in the body of your email.
While this assignment is a great start, it is just a first step toward building your admissions portfolio. Read about our portfolio requirements and keep making work that demonstrates the breadth of your interests and abilities as a graphic designer.
