HILLSIDE CAMPUS: The 30th Anniversary of Art Center’s move to Pasadena
South Wing Expansion

In 1989, the College expanded by constructing a southern wing, which was originally designed by Ellwood but not built in the 1970s due to economic constraints.  The College commissioned James Tyler, the design architect for the original building, to adapt the original plans to the College’s current program, which were completed in 1991.  The new southern wing now includes the GM digital media laboratory and LA Times auditorium.
