Donate or transfer materials to the Archives

Collection Policy

The Art Center College of Design Archives is the repository for records and materials that document the history of Art Center College of Design (ACCD) and illuminate contributions of individuals and organizations associated with the College. The Art Center College of Design Archives collects the following materials:

Official Records

The ACCD Archives is the repository for all non-current and official Art Center records. Among the different types of materials considered official ACCD records are: correspondence; memoranda; manuscripts; meeting minutes; reports; grant records; annual budgets and audit reports; accreditation reports; course syllabi; records of the President and Vice Presidents; Board of Trustee records; Department Chairs (which may include copies of student work in various formats)and administrative departmental records; records of faculty, student, and alumni organizations; electronic records; photographs, negatives, and slides (which may be of student work); audio and video tapes; film; architectural drawings; scrapbooks and artifacts; and all publications, newsletters or booklets distributed in the name of ACCD.  All records, regardless of format, created and received in the course of official college business are the property of Art Center College of Design.

Outside Acquisitions

In addition to official College records, the ACCD Archives also collects (through donation, transfer, or purchase) the papers of Faculty, as well as personal papers and organizational records that were not created as part of the official business of ACCD, but which relate to the history of Art Center.  ACCD will collect such papers and records provided the material:

  • Pertains to the history of the College
  • Supports the ACCD curriculum
  • Can be properly stored, processed, and made available for research

Materials Not Collected

Generally, the Archives does not actively collect: three-dimensional objects or original artwork; permanent student and personnel records; and material which has no particular relationship to Art Center or its activities, people or physical property.
